5/23/2023 0 Comments Dances of thievesAs a whole, Gallant was beautifully written. Olivia Prior is mute, and communicates through sign language, drawing, and writing. I also appreciated how it dealt with the nuances of communication. I adored the atmosphere with elements of Gothic horror. She receives a letter from an estranged uncle, and leaves Merilance for Gallant, the Prior family’s estate - and the place that her mother warned her never to visit. Gallant follows Olivia Prior, an orphan at the Merilance School for Girls with only her deceased mother’s journal. Keep reading for my unsolicited opinion on what I read this month.
